Director, Script Writer


Ico Costa was born in Lisbon, Portugal in 1983.
He study Cinema, at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, in Lisbon and at the Universidad del Cine, em Buenos Aires.
In 2011 won the prizes of the best film and the best portuguese short-film at the festival Fest, in Espinho, with the short-film “Outono”, and in 2012 “Libhaketi” is release at the competition of the festival Curtas de Vila do Conde.

In 2011 he is admitted at Le Fresnoy – Studio National des Arts Contemporains, in Tourcoing, France, where he shoot  “Quatro Horas Descalço”, released at the Film Festival of Rome, Indie Lisboa, in a section parallel at the Critic Week of Cannes Festival, among others, and won the prize of the best short-film at the Film Festival of Bradford.
Em 2013 termina a Le Fresnoy com Distinção com o filme “Corrente”, que estreia no festival Curtas Vila do Conde.
He also writes having published two tales in follow-up of the prize Jovens Criadores in 2008 and 2009.

2012 - Libhaketi (15 min, HD – Autumn Films) – in competition at the Curtas de Vila do Conde ISFF (Portugal), Durban IFF (South Africa), Montreal Black IFF (Canada), Sardinia IFF (Italy), Rencontres Cinématographiques de Hergla (Tunisia), Caminhos do Cinema Português FF (Portugal), Curtas Sadinas SFF (Portugal), Festróia IFF (Portugal), PUFF (Portugal) Underground IFF (USA); difusão na TV5 Monde (France, All world) e RTBF (Belgium);
2011 - Outono (21 min, HD – Hibrid Pictures) – Prizes of the best portuguese shortfilm and the best ficcion at the Fest Espinho IFF;
2008 - The Escape (6 min, JPEG/DV – Uzi Filmes) – Prize  Jovens Criadores ’08; competition at Ovar Vídeo FF;
